Roots & Routes is hosting a learning and discussion evening on October 26, 2022 at 7:15pm. We will be discussing the book The Secular Creed by Rebecca McLaughlin. Attendees are encouraged to read the book before – but are not required to do so. Pastor Chris will lead us through a discussion of Rebecca’s ideas presented in her book and introduce themes for us all to engage in.

(We had 25 books available for purchase, but they have all gone out. Consider buying your own copy or borrowing a friend's.)

In our church we strive to be faithful to God’s instruction: “Just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Jesus, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.” (Col. 2:6-8)

From the back cover:
In this provocative book, Rebecca McLaughlin helps us disentangle beliefs Christians gladly affirm from those they cannot embrace, and invites us to talk with our neighbors about the things that matter most. Far from opposing love across difference, McLaughlin argues, Christianity is the original source and firmest foundation for true diversity, equality, and life-transforming love.
