Learn About Our Faith
Maybe you went to Sunday school and boys/girls club, attend church services and youth group, pray before meals and do family devotions. Or maybe you are new to the whole “Christian” thing and want to know more…
Do you know what YOU believe? What your church believes?
New to our church, or to the faith?
Newcomers • Sunday Afternoon • LUNCH
Are you new to Langley Immanuel Church? Or want you like to learn more about who we are, what we believe, and what this looks like in everyday life? Don’t quite ‘get’ the reformed tradition? Thinking about becoming a member?
Join us for a three week class beginning Sunday, October 29. Classes include lunch and will take place in the multi-purpose room beginning at noon on the following Sundays: October 29, November 5, and November 12.
Teens • Wednesday Evenings • 7:00pm • (starts mid-Sept, ends mid-Apr)
Grades 9 & 10: ”HC and Me” — a study of the 1st half of the Heidelberg Catechism
Grades 11 & 12: ”What We Believe” — a DVD directed study of the Belgic Confession
At Langley Immanuel we envision this being an opportunity to both learn about and discuss our Christian faith, and to apply it to real life. For the 2017-2018 season, classes start October 11 and continue weekly.
A catechism is a summary or exposition of what we believe the Bible teaches. In our Reformed tradition, catechism has generally referred to the study of the historical confessions of the Reformed Church such as: The Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession, and the Canons of Dort.
Periodically our Head Pastor leads a series of classes intended for anyone who wants to dig deeper into our Christian beliefs, big theological questions, history, and even some of the hot topics of today. It’s often a small group setting where all questions are welcome!
